How Locator Technology Works
The built-in 512Hz sonde transmitter emits a radio signal that penetrates soil and concrete. A separate locator device held above ground detects this signal and displays:
- Depth reading - Distance from surface to camera head
- Signal strength - Visual and audio feedback for direction
- Position marker - Mark exact location on ground
Applications
Frequently Asked Questions
The camera head contains a 512Hz sonder transmitter that emits a radio signal. A separate locator device above ground detects this signal, calculating depth and displaying directional guidance. This allows you to pinpoint the exact underground position of the camera head.
This system can locate the camera head up to 5 meters (16 feet) below the surface, depending on soil conditions. Clay and wet soil may reduce effective depth, while dry, sandy soil provides better signal penetration.
The system provides ±5cm (2 inches) accuracy under optimal conditions. Accuracy may vary based on depth, soil type, and interference from other underground utilities.
The camera functions perfectly as a standard sewer camera without a locator. The sonde transmitter can be activated when needed for locating tasks, giving you flexibility for different inspection scenarios.
